Kimani Ray Smith is an award-winning director and action designer with over three decades of experience in film and television. He began his career on Jackie Chan’s Rumble in the Bronx, and has since contributed on more than 200 productions, including major studio titles such as  I, Robot, Salt, Tron, Twilight, Total Recall, and Deadpool 1 & 2.

As a director, Kimani brings a precise, character-driven sensibility to his work across feature films, episodic television, award-winning shorts, and digital content. His cohesive cinematic style blends genre, performance, and grounded action.

Known for his inventive choreography and actor-focused approach, Kimani designs action that supports narrative and performance. He has received 22 Leo Award nominations (Canadian Emmys) in the Direction, Producing and Stunt Coordination categories—winning three for Stunt Coordination—and is recognized as one of North America’s leading voices in storytelling.

His recent work includes 2nd Unit Direction/Stunt Coordination on the upcoming feature Young Washington for The Wonder Project, further reinforcing his reputation as a trusted and innovative creative force.
